.......its started to make a bit of a racket. This is the fan just below the main CPU fan.
Does anyone know if I am able to change this fan? My guess is that it is possible, but not having worked on a motherboard before I'm a little nervous at not being 100% sure.
Do you have any reccommendations for a replacement - or are these fans just 'run of the mill' type?

Also are there any good uk sites with decent tutorials for upgrading/replacing?

Thanks in advance for any help guys.

Yes on my KT266 chipset my NB fan was annoying me so I ripped it off. I still run 25% overclock as well.

To be quite honest, if it's the fan on the northbridge (the biggest chip on the mobo, roughly between the processor/memory/graphics card) you will be able to run it without a fan just fine. I had one of those fans on my Geforce2 card that seized for ages before I found out - I eventually just took the fan off, and it ran for ages before mysteriously conking out the other week. I doubt a northbridge on an Apollo chipset is going to get even remotely hot, so by all means take the fan off.

Vantec make the best NB coolers. You can get them from overclockers.com.

On most motherboards you should be able to replace this fan. The fan on the last motherboard I had was just screwed down; the one before that was also glued to the heatsink, but I got the little begger off in the end. Best way of finding out is to give it a go yourself.

Either you can just replace the fan, in which case I'd reccommend an ultra-quiet one from http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dorothy.bradbury/panaflo.htm

Or you could remove the heatsink itself, get a bigger one, and cool it passively. Try the Zalman motherboard cooler from http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/ Online_Catalogue_Other_Coolers_57.html
