Las Vegas - 'A gang of teenafgers has been causing mayhem in Las Vegas. The "311 Boyz" are from prosperous neighbourhoods, and look more like boy-band members than violent gangsters. But the casual amorality of their crimes has shocked even Sin City. The 311 Boyz allegedly prowl the streets, sometimes armed with crowbars, looking for fellow teenagers to attack. Often, they videotape the assaults, presumably in order to sell the film. Vegas police have charged nine teenagers with 13 felonies. The suspects, like their alleged vicitms, are all white.'

Miami - 'A former Presbyterian minister who murdered an abortionist was executed by lethal injection in a Florida prison last week. Paul Hill shot Dr John Britton and his bodyguard, James Barret outside an abortion clinic in 1994. He freely gave himself up to the police and never subsequently expressed any remorse. "There has never beeny any apprecialbe time when I though that what I did was worng," he insisted on the eve of his execution. Hill said that he felt honoured to die and was sure he would recieve "a great reward in heaven"' (similar to the convicted terrorist of the Bali Bombings, but American)

Moscow - 'The discovery of a woman's strangled body in Moscow has revived fears that a serial killer is at large in the city. The latest killing brings the total number of women strangled or battered to death in Moscow over the past twom months to 13. The first victim, a 28-year old graduate named Yulia Bondareva, was found dead in a botanical garden in July; shortly after, four women were killed in a single night. There was a lull in August before the most recent attack last week. There are similarities between the cases: several of the victims were sexually abused; none were robbed. However, police mantain that this is not the work of a single man. Last month, they detained a 33-year old man suspected of at least one of the killings'

I could go on. Serial killers in Australia, 'Superior Universal Alignment' cult that mutilated boys in Brazil, the Swedish foreign minister being killed. Why?

Hardly.

These are 'minor' stories. I just don't understand how any of them work. Or rather how the people work in them.
