You can even overclock your mouse port, so that the refresh rate is 200Hz instead of 125Hz...

The signal is digital, so it's not 100% continuous. The faster its refresh rate is, the smoother its movement will be.

Nope it really does make a BIG diffrence, for instance when I had my functional Creative wireless mouse any fast movements in FPS games confused the mouse and it missed frames and only managed to catch the beginning and end of the movement meaning that there were far too many embarrassing moments in UT2004...
