Explains, or suggests strongly with facts and links to previous stories, how Iraq wasn't/isn't any part of a "war on terror", but simply the events of 2 years ago provided an ample launch pad.
Which sums up, for me, the attitude that let this happen. It's an arrogant attitude. An attitude that says "Well, I'm good, dunno about you guys". It's like the old pride-before-a-fall saying.
Interestingly enough, I saw some of a documentary on The Great Gatsby today that was made in 2000. It was highlighting that Fitzgerald knew the economic boom and good feeling of the twenties had to come to an end, and he was proven right with the depression of the thirties. Then comparisons were made on the society of the modern day (ie 2000) and how it's pretty much the same as the twenties, and it cannot last. Cue lots of sweeping shots of the New York skyline, with the Twin Towers like some sort of jewel in the crown. Quite eerie.
His father. Why did the US assign the contract to him?
BTW, I was told this and I haven't checked to see if it's true or not so don't take it as gospel.
The Guardian article affirms some of my views in the so-called "war against terror."
If true though, we're potentially looking at another Chilie, but on a far larger scale.
And it looks like 'terrorism' (or whatever banner can stretch to cover Iraq et al too) really is becoming the new communism, in its abuse for deceit.
On the specifics of the article:
'The document also calls for the creation of "US space forces" to dominate space, .... It also hints that the US may consider developing biological weapons "that can target specific genotypes [and] may transform biological warfare from the realm of terror to a politically useful tool".'
Jees, it sounds like too much to swallow. But if it's for real then we've been looking for WMDs in all the wrong places...
And eventually we come back to oil. It makes sense, but perhaps it stands alongside, and isn't causing, the US push for control.
