In this this film there are several occasions in which the film is completely silent. These moments seemed to add to the atmosphere of the scene so much more than having any music played in the background.
The silence somehow managed to say so much more than any conversation or background music would have done.
Then when you did get music, it was surely the best music ever used in a Western!

As for music, The Matrix and Blade are two of the best movies I've ever experienced which managed to combine the music with the action in just the right way.
