This is not machine bashing my machine is better than yours etc. its because of the following reason's:
When u buy a PC do u get a option on which Operating system to use? NO u have no choice u have to use windows. Because Microsoft monopolised the market which has lead to no competition and stunted growth, Windows has extremely poor memory management and if there was at least another Operating system we could freely use and buy a PC with(dont include Linux techie's only system) using a PC would be so much better! I hoped maybe Apple would make theres available but it never happened :-(
Now imagine if this happens with the X-Box we are all forced to buy the same machine it will lead to some things we have already seen i.e FIFA 2001 having not much diffrence from FIFA 2000 but with SEGA making footy games on the PS2 now FIFA will have to start improving, and being innovative. Which is only good for the industry.
But if the X-Box monopolise's the console market things will be become VERY bad.
Even if u h8 Sony buy a gamecube or ANYTHING but the x-box.
I very much doubt Sony failing though by the way seeing as Sega is fully backing PS2 and with the broadband network coming along it looks very pretty :-)

No matter what happens in the upcoming console wars, X-Box will never rule over the market. Don't freak out over it. Besides, X-Box is going to have some stiff competition, and I don't mean the other consoles; I'm talking about PCs. The X-Box is basically a stripped-down and juiced-up PC system; the problem is that many of us already have pretty slick PCs that can play the vast majority of the games X-Box will be featuring, not to mention handling them better.
Microsoft made a mistake, IMO, when they designed this thing. Now it'll be forced to contend with both sides of the coin - and that's not a wise idea. X-Box will be hurt by PCs more than it'll be harmed by the PS2, Dreamcast, or Gamecube.
