My brother's laptop CD/DVD drive will not read CDs or DVDs.
His laptop is a Advent 5490. He has Win XP Pro installed.
How would he go about replacing the CD drive with a CD rewriter? Could he install it himself or would he have to get someone to do this for him?
Where could he buy a cd-rewriter from for his laptop?

Is it under warranty still ? if not ebuyer.co.uk are very cheap - not too sure how much laptop stuff they sell though.
You can usually buy replacement CD drives however he should talk to Acer first.

Take the floppy disc out the CD drive and replace it with a proper CD.
