The new National Geographic has some very interesting photographs in, taken by one of their people from inside Iraq during the Iraq war, from the Iraqi side. I honestly can't see how anyone can not have any reaction to them. I'll see if thet are online...
All you have to do it look at the evolution of the pornography industry to understand that. Countries which have accepted porn for longer have fewer taboos, and those taboos the do still have are considered more extreme.
The same is true for violence, swearing etc.
I am shocked sometimes at the language that I hear on TV in the early evening, but more so by the language I hear from local children in the street, or between parent and child.
With all these reality TV shows, and live feeds from warzones on the 24 hour news programmes I wonder how long it is before we watch someones life end, live, and fail to bat an eyelid.
