Obviously the full game isn't out yet, but how would one go about creating player models and vehicles and shizzle fo fizzle? I've seen it done on BF1942, so it must the the same sort of process. Can you get a dev kit for that?

EDIT: Just went to www.planetbattlefield.com and the first thing you see is Mod Toolkit Here! I'll download and have a look. I got into this years ago when Quake came out, but haven't looked since then. What sort of knowledge is required nowadays? C/C++? Or is everything supplied to build models and animate them? I'm no artist, but could probably come up with some interesting ideas.

It's mostly in a desert anyway.

I'm waiting for Dessert Conflict, with banana guns and whipped cream splash damage.

I don't think you'll really need to know a particular programming language, most mods and stuff will be done by editing the python scripts in the game (but like the round time limit and unlocked weapons "mods".

New models and stuff need to be made in a 3D program like Maya, but after that they should be reasonably easy to import with the game's editor.

Bit of info about the editor: http://www.totalbf2.com/game/editor/
