I have a website and I've uploaded a movie that is accomanied by a text file named "codec" that has a list of all the players that will play this movie, but I was wondering, is it ok to call the file codec because I'm not sure If I'm using the right terminology?

I think CODEC is just an abbreviation of Code Decompression ?, it's not actually a player, just a decompression method that allows Media Player etc to play the movie.
