Then it depends on what type of game you play. Something like Everquest requires a fee to play the game (never played it, so I can't comment if it's any good). Others (such as UT or Quake III) don't. You have some software locally that detects servers that are running, you pick one, and off you go (hopefully....). So it doesn't have to cost much at all. But obviously the more you pay, the better service you get.
Will it be like this?
Game title here-playing for 2 hour(s)-price £10
Game title here-playing for 1 hour(s)-price £5
Or is it something completly different?
