I know film distributors are trying to sell there film to the public, to make it look as exciting as possible and usually the final scene is the most dramatic but I wish they wouldn’t show so much that it gives away important plot developments.
Finally my most ridiculous piece of advertising has to be for Universal Soldier. When I went to hire this on video when it was originally released the poster shows scenes from the film, one of those pictures was of Dolph Lundgren impaled on all the spikes which happens right at the end and is his last scene, yet earlier in the film he is involved in an incident where he crashes over the edge of a cliff in a bus and you’re supposed to believe he’s dead. Well all those people who looked at the poster knew he couldn’t be. (According to the “rules” of these types of films, he wasn’t going to be but it still gave too much info away)
My plea to film companies please make trailers that interest the audience but don’t show too much.
