Anyway, on Final Fantasy 9, there is the all new card game, and though it is fun to play and easy to get the basics, I still don`t have the faintest idea what the numbers and letters do to the cards.
I have spent hours today collecting data about card battles and I will analyse it tonight. It is easy to see that when a card has the configuration 3X21 (My Gimme Cat) it will beat my lizard man with 0P00 very easily. However the actual meanings of the numbers are very confusing.
It seems that the value the card takes in a card battle is affected by the following:
1) The letters and numbers on the card face.
2) The number of arrows around the card. (unconfirmed)
3) The number of cards already on the table that are adjacent to the defending card.
4) The attacking card seems more powerful.
To what extent these things affect the outcome I do not know. I had a theory for a while that letter on the card was its power, and the accompanying numbers were multipliers or something. The reason that I now think that the other factors come in to play (e.g. 2 - 4), is that when a card displaying 0P00 was on the table, I placed another card with 0P00 next to it and a battle took place. Each card had a seperate starting value, and lost different amounts.
I only have two lectures to attend tomorrow, and not very much studying to do, so I`ll spend some time trying to figure out the cards, and I hope to reply to my own topic with a solution.
Oh, and by the way, if anybody else comes up with something then great, but if it is much simpler than what I think it is the please break it to me gently.
Thanks, ssxmuppet.
The letter: H P or X. H seems to be magic. P is a physical attack, and X a combo of the two.
The two numbers to the right of the letter are defense against magic and physical attacks. I don`t know what order yet. The letter to the left must be power, and I can only assume that the game randomly generates a number using the power value to start it off. This means you need to take into account the type of attack the card makes, the type of defense it has, and the power of the card.
Forget the idea about the number of arrows or adjacent cards, its all down to the cards numbers and the random multiplier from the game. (Don`t worry about the multiplier, it seems that it only gives the weaker card a small chance, not a 50 50 style chance.
Anyway, back to the game to discover more. I`ll see if there is a formula.
