I mean today we've got;
*GCSE pass rates fall to 97.6 in line with last years minor fall, whilst not alarming the trend since 2000 has been a steady and small fall year upon year. Bearing in mind that this 'pass' rate means you got grades A-G then I'd say it was somewhat a fiddle, 'cause no employer is going to care about anything that is less than a C when it comes to GCSE's. Only 58.1% got 5 A*-C grades, which I'd say means around 41.9% of people failed.
*World Bank halts Iraq aid after the bombing. Because it's not like they'd need financial help is it ?
*UN says US responsible for security in Iraq and that 'blue helmets' will not be going in, so basically Kofi Annan saying what the world knew several months ago, despite his staff now having been purposelly attacked.
*Shwarzenneger continues his stupid political career by saying he will not raise taxes, which to be honest is the no brainer way of trying to get elected, but he will decrease spending, so surely that means more money goes into the bank, if you're taxing the same but spending less then once you've cleared any debt you run up a surplus, yes ?
*Police report the number of child/illegal p0rn sites had now doubled within one year, and that those who masquerade online as children are becoming harder to catch.
*Kelly Inquiry continues to drag on amidst wavering media attention, and thanks to everyone relying on second hand accounts due to the lack of tv cameras - a bad move there - then it's all becoming a mess of statements. They should have had tv cameras in there, it's important, and it would show there is nothing to hide by doing so.
*And Liberia is again on the verge of trouble, Israel hit the Palestinians after yesterday's bombing, Libya's buying itself off the terrorism list, France's heatwave toll continues, and we've found another few internet viruses....
I'm going back to bed, damn the postman and his door knocking....
Radio 4 was discussing this and the benefits. In relation to WMD, the coalition has pretty much agreed that he had basically no involvement with the day to day running, and they have already captured/spoken to people a lot better placed within that programme (the non-existent since 1992 one as reported by The UN Weapons Inspectors, and the Atomic Energy Commission that investigated the claims of Iraq trying to purchase Uranium from Niger - reports roundly denounced in Washingon as fraudalent - yet to be reported by the UK government though)
So it's a publicity coup - the day after the UN bombing - but serves little practical benefit other than removing a bloodthirsty maniac from whatever vestiges of power he once held.
Even so, we have him now.
I have no knowledge of why and where he was kept, so I'll maintain a cynical distance and wait.
I thought the coalition bragged about him being dead?
But I'll lay dollars to donuts that doesn't happen.
All one needs to do is remember that what we read or see in the media isn't the whole story.
Speaking of which, did anyone else see the Sun headline that tried to imply we should forget about the Hutton enquiry and not think too much about why the war happened in the first place? Ahh, good old Rupert Murdoch...
