...although not quite as dramitically as that.

One minute I was recording something, then all of a sudden the mic stopped working. I thought it was the mic so I tested it on another PC...but it worked fine. Urk.

I still have output, but neither the line-in or mic port work anymore. I tried new drivers to no avail.

New sound card time?

Gasman, most surround sound speakers that can use digital come with an optical cable so he won't be saving much, you want soundblaster or Terratec like Turbonutter say's, Trust are okay for peripherals but for a soundcard you want something that games developers fully support, and I don't think too many test their games on a Trust somehow, plus Trust's technical support is completely non existent. If you ever ring them they tell you to email them, and then it takes like two weeks to get a reply.

You shouldn't really buy anything other than Terratecs or Sound Blasters.

Trust 5.1 Sound Expert Optical.

Digital in and out.

Comes with a TOSlink optical cable (Worth a tenner I think at least!!)

If this means anything to you..? SPDIF digital signal quality > 120dB..

Dunno, its quality though!

You can get it for £25..

When I said that I was talking to the guy who suggested Ebay. There's no point in me checking, even if it's cheap on ebuyer, I'd have to pay £15 P&P as punishment for living in N. Ireland, increasing the price quite substantially.

I can get an SB5.1 Digital in a shop in town for £25, and it'll be nice to have a good sound card, even if I don't have the surround speakers to go with it. At least it'll work properly :\

I refuse to buy second hand hardware from strangers. I intend on getting an SB5.1 Digital but want to know my old one is definitely busted before I do.
