However is 'reforming' or 're-uniting' the word to use? It seems as though the line up has changed. Drummer John Tempesta of White Zombie, bassist Blasko of Rob Zombie and guitarist Helmet's former Guitarist Chris Traynor will work with Hamilton.
Personally I loved the sound of Helmet, grinding Guitars giving a Post-Hardcore feel along with Page stamping his foot and telling you of his rage. There's been some great moments in their songs throughout the years.
Here's hoping Helmet will return to give back what I feel Rock is losing these days.
Helmet will forever define intelligent angry rock with their stop-start riffs-with-gaps style.
But Tempesta is a standard drummer, what made them was Rob Echeverra (sp?) drumming style and Hamilton's riffs.
An excellent old timey rock band, I saw them blow The Astoria apart in..christ..'90?
Meantime is still my favourite album of theirs and was listening to it on Winamp last night doing other stuff.
Anyone unfamiliar with Helmet should download
"Meantime" "FBLA II" "Unsung" "Give it", then go and buy the Meantime album.
Betty was a cool album too, "Tic" and "Biscuits for Smut" stand out on that one. I got the one after that as well, can't remember the name but it wasn't in the same league.
Helmet without Echeverra is going to be basically Page Hamilton shouting and some mammoth riffs.
"Help me spread right
Ash is fertilised
Come down in the meantime
Strength to minimise"
