Just imagine taking your portable Playstation around in your pocket and sticking it on a mate's TV. You'd never have to be bored at your grandparents house again! All console makers should do this as their older hardware becomes available in smaller cases. The PS1 and screen are hardly portable at the moment, nice though they are, and the only other console to have done this was the Megadrive, with the Multimega, which was CD walkman sized and played Megadrive and Mega CD games. Playing video CDs is also great, and the only alternative to DVD, for which you're looking at £1000 upwards to get portable. You can buy loads of video CDs still and there are plenty of new american films available to buy and no region coding!
One day we will all have portable consoles as powerful as the PS2 and wonder how we did without them, but until then I'm sure I can probably get by with a gameboy advance! Roll on the portable future.
I mean, who wants to turn a highly portable piece of equipment into something the size and weight of a breeze block, just to put a joystick on it?
So, with that in mind, I propose an all new add-on for the gameboy. The Truck boy. It comes in red, green and a few other colours, has eighteen wheels, a four cylinder engine, steering wheel, space for around 20,000 games and accesories and has that all important joystick to control all your gameboy games. The Truckboy also includes a realistic rumble effect* and motion emulation** and special limited editions will come with a free pair of pokemon dice for the window.
Truckboy will retail at around £25,000. Age and licence restrictions apply.
*only used when going over rough terrain
** which takes effect when the truckboy is actully moving.
What couch-potato gamers like myself require is a great console, but someone else to go out, buy it, plug it in and set it up for us.
Perhaps this could be the future for Sega Manufacturing staff? They could have titles like 'Game Boy' or 'Plug-in'.
And why run round to your mate's house (what mates?) when you can just as easily play against or with him online? You could watch his reactions on the video screen phone and hear his voice over the speakers when you push his car into a wall or take his head off with a chainsaw. (In the game of course.)
The future is leisure.
Leisure is my couch.
FantasyMeister is on it.
He will not be moved.
