Talking to a mate that's just got back from Hull and he told me about the race riots going on there.
Yet not in any newspapers or websites anywhere.
Why is this?

We're talking car fires, pitched battles in the street, a couple of rapings.
Why is this not being reported anywhere? Anyone from up there can shed some light on this?

Nope, not really. Ultimately showing them on tv reinforces many people's fear and prejudices about race relations in this country - the racists are fuelled by 'their;' town getting a trashing, whilst the anti-racists get to see the usual groups being racist...

It looks bad but ultimately it can be blamed away on others with ease. I'm saying that I seriously believe some sections of the media are taking the Hutton Enquiry way too seriously, as if it's going to uncover some universal truth. It won't, you'll get one, maybe two resignations as Ministers take early retirement and then write books and do 20000 a time dinner lectures and conventions, and a new procedure for something or other. It's rapidly turning into a McCarthy witch hunt, and I very much doubt many involved parties truly care about the key factor, Dr Kelly.

Alternatively the government is censoring the supposed troubles there, but there seems little reason, as they'd take attention from the Hutton Enquiry, in theory.

Either way if there is a problem, and no one is reporting it, then it's going to give the local BNP a field day come next voting time.

There was a race-related murder in Harlow on Saturday night, not far from where I live. Wouldn't be surprised if it was blamed on immigrants etc.

The extent of the trouble I have heard about is asylum seekers running illegal taxis using unlicenced unroad-worthy cars, a rape in Pearson's parks.

I've just asked a co-worker though, and he tells me that there was a stabbing of a guy from sudan in the city center about a month ago which was followed by peace protests in the main city square.

There has also been a big problem with asylum seekers carrying knifes on the street, which is apparently what they do in their own culture, but as a result local criminals and such have also begun to carry knives, and there have been some knife fights.

We do have a big crack problem in Hull due to the Heroin problem which has been tackled so successfully by local drug services.

Had a look, most places havea report from end of July about some troubles, apparently on the 8th of August the local police denied there was any tension.

Also this was possibly related, depending on how much you read into it, http://www.yorkshiretoday.co.uk/viewarticle2.aspx? ArticleID=570511& SectionID=1084&Search=hull%20riots&Searchtype=any &SearchSectio n=1084&DateFrom= 011995&DateTo=082003&Page=1&ReturnPage=Results.aspx

Random petrol bombings ? Unlikely, if you're making them you have a use for them and that's not usually doing just stuff like this, unless there is more to it.

He went back with his girlfriend and apparently it's on the local news there?
I find it really odd that this isn't being reported, and he's not the sort of person to make stuff up.
