Last season's Championships were just as close as this season's, so every point is crucial from here on in. Also, with 8 points places instead of 6, everything is still at stake for teams and drivers.
Let's look at last year and see how everyone was fairing. Qualifying was typical Belguim. The weather was drizzling and it varied throughout the hour. De La Rosa found the best time to be out on track and got pole position. The field was spread out by almost 3 seconds so it shows how much time can be won and lost.
Some other notable qualifying mentions. Montoya got 4th, Ralf Schumacher 6th, Coulthard 12th, Villeneuve 14th, Fisichella 15th, Button 16th, Trulli 17th and Raikkonen 22nd.
The race, however, was dry and it gave everyone a chance to prove they could still win the title. In the race, there were 6 retirements and surprisingly, none of them were mechanical. All were mistakes or contact with other cars. Trulli and Coulthard were the first to go in a huge accident and Villeneuve retired as well. Fisichella was another key retirement in that race.
The winner of the Belgian Grand Prix last year was Panis, who after this race, only managed 2 more points and won the Championship. De La Rosa and Massa were close behind in 2nd and 3rd. Montoya and De La Rosa are the only 2 drivers battling for the title this year that scored points here last year. Button got 13th, Raikkonen 14th and Ralf Schumacher got 16th and last.
Here's a recap of everyone who cannot win the drivers title this year:
Da Matta
Webber
Panis
M Schumacher
Frentzen
Irvine
Barrichello
Only 15 drivers remain and technically, every constructor can still win the Constructors Championship. What can we expect this year at Belguim?

> Ouch - need to qualify higher this time me thinks.
Same for Button. But this season has gone well so far- hoping for at least 5th to distance him from Trulli.
