Hi,
having read the guide for finding the path to my VIP root directory, I'm confused.
I want to protect my /htdocs/beta directory ie: www.websitename/beta
Do I specify /httpd/htdocs/beta or /httpd/beta in the text file?
Whichever it is, I'm getting a 500 error after uploading via ascii and removing white space.
Please help.

EDIT: I deleted the dot files and used the control panel interface. Now I'm just getting a straight 403 with no prompts.
LATER EDIT: All sorted - I think it was just timing

Why not use the password protection facility on the Directory settings page? The can be found by going to your VIP settings within MyFreeola. It does the same thing as using a .htpasswd file but you don't have to worry about things like root paths.
