Really close qualifying leaves Firman delighted

It was Cristiano Da Matta that took pole position for the Hungarian Grand Prix but the times were really close. Da Matta pipped Firman by just one thousandth of a second but Firman won't mind too much as his championship challengers fall victim to the close times.

Firman, just one point behind Alonso, will be delighted to Alonso only manage 10th although he was less than a tenth of a second behind the pole position time. Firman's other challengers that can take him with a win also struggled as Villeneuve got 13th and De La Rosa got 11th.

Some other notbale mentions:

Montoya will have more points in his sights from 6th and will be having a good battle with Trulli (7th) and Verstappen (8th) as only 3 points seperate them in the Championship. Raikkonen, Alonso, De La Rosa and Villeneuve are just outside the points with plenty to play for. Fisichella and Button will struggle with 14th and 15th and Ralf Schumacher will not be happy with 17th.

Da Matta pipped everyone to take pole position. Firman will want his championship challengers to stay behind him from 2nd and Irvine qualifies high in 3rd. Coulthard will be hoping to put the Germany misery behind him with 4th and Frentzen's recent qualifying form continues with 5th. Montoya (6th), Trulli (7th) and Verstappen (8th) will be a gripping battle.

Well, I was going to do the race today but my computer has decided that it doesn't like the heat and it refuses to play Grand Prix 4 without bombing out. It will have to be tomorrow.

Pole position hasn't been the best place to be. Out of the 12 rounds so far, only 3 have won from pole position.
