For years titles have come and gone, some have lived on, others forgotten in a whisper..ulgh, sounds like I am going to go off on one of those shakespearean poem larks doesn't it...well I am not, I just think that although the games of yesterday were good at their time...they don't have the same effect that console games to today, people never really went mad about releases and didn't get too excited about ANOTHER Mario or Metroid game, the only reason I can think of for this is that good games are a lot more common, back then there was the NES and the Master Ststem, Sega and Nintendo...Now we have 5 major released systems, (including the gameboy) and the only reason that I can think of is the fact that good games are a lot more common, I am not saying that the games back then weren't enjoyed as much as they are now, simply that people can relate to modern day games like Shenmue and Metal Gear Solid, although they are stealth shooters and Japanese 'life impression' games people can relate to them more than sitting in an orange spaceship blasting pink and Magenta aliens....it scares me that I know colours like Aqua and Magenta...I hope I am not comfused!

But regardless, I am not saying that the modern 3D space-shooters are no good, I am just saying that where as all the games back in the times of the NES and MS were all fantasy...say 99% games now are a lot more life like, like fishing and athletics.

So classic gaming did it's job, it introduced people to the gaming world and they wanted more of what they tasted, if Nintendo and Sega hadn't started this revolution then we wouldn't be seeing the Perfect Dark's and Shenmue's of Today. but I do feel however that 3D gaming is the future and that despite the fact that 2D games were go, I think that the future is 3D and more advanced systems.
