My PC game with a Matsushita DVD/CD-ROM player model SR8175, (Panasonic OEM in other words) only thing is I have no software that can play DVD movies (although DVD-ROM programs work ok).

I tried downloading a couple of freeware programs like FreeDVD1.2 and so on, but none of them seem to work.

Could anyone recommend a decent DVD Decoder software package for me? I don't have any DVD decoder cards installed, and would rather avoid this if possible and just run software instead.

Hurrah! Problem solved. I got hold of an OEM disc with PowerDVD 2.55 on it, just installed it, and had Gladiator running full screen within 30 seconds, great stuff.

Now I never have to leave my PC again!!

Bwahaaahaa. :-)

OK, if you got Messenger I can download from that because Hotmail only accepts 2Mb I think.

E-mail addy is [email protected] if you want to add me to your contact list.

I'm online all morning.

.....hang on, I'm online ALL the time. :-)

FM, I think I've got a DVD software player on a PC Format disc somewhere. I'll see how big the file is and if you want I can do a hotmail linkup to tranfer the file.

I'll have to have a look tomorrow morning to see what one it is and whether it's any good.

Still working on it. I tried Cinemaster, but most of the sites that offered downloads of it didn't have working links, so in the end I decided to go out on buy one.

Then I saw the two posts below, and started on my search for the cheaper option again :-)

Again, I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated.

the best soft dvd players out there IMO are powerdvd v2.55-v3.0 or windvd2000 v2.3(multichannel if you want dd5.1 downmix as it's the only player that will downmix lfe channel)

The best decoder and player software I use is Cinemaster (software version) it doesn't need any hardware decoding and works with multiregion discs (if the player supports this) I think there's a link from the dvdtimes.com website to a site that you can download it from, if you can't find it I might be able to get it to you somehow!
