This whole Sega - Nintendo RPG melachi is probably the most talked about topic in these forums but is it actually going ahead?! The following excerpt was taken from Gaming Intelligence, and it sounds very.....good!
GameWeek: Charles, can you confirm or deny the existence of this so-called "top-secret RPG" being worked on by Sega and Nintendo?
Charles Bellfield: I'm trying to recall… Tetsu Kayama [Sega of Japan strategy consultant(...or so it said)] talked about a number of things last week and I would normally refer back to what he said, but let's put it this way: whatever he said, the answer is "yes."
The Answer is YES...YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES....GOAL, This RPG Will be called THE RPG!

If I were too make it...
Why not have a bigger badguy? Then you could be able to add Sonic/Robotnik/Bowser to your party... ala Super Mario RPG.
It seems Sonic Adventure 2 has Dr. Robotnik as not the main badguy bloke.

I think Sonic should go to Mario and say:

I think it would be great if there was a Mushroom Kingdon meets Sonic RPG.
You could choose from 2 characters, Mario or Sonic each with their own abilities:
Mario with his power to use warp pipes and ride Yoshi.
Sonic with his powers that enable him to spin really fast and dry your washing as well as being able to do loop-the-loops and smash baddies to lil pieces.
Each could be vulnerable to different types of enemies!
Mario would be more vulnerable to Doctor Robotniks attempts at destroying him even though Bowser would help.
Sonic would be vulnerable against the koopa troopa's hard shells and would need to be careful when attacking them.
The game would start off with a movie sequence (not FMV but in Nintendo's traditional style of in game graphics) with Robotnik and Bowser teaming up and plotting to get rid of their arc nemisis'!
The characters could go around both meeting characters from both worlds, mushroom kingdom and the place where sonic goes around in his games (I don't know cos I don't have any sonic games myself)and getting special items and powerups. They would need to gain certain powerups to advance further.
They would have to go through grass, trees, fire, lave, castles, dungeons, water, ice and more each stage having a boss baddie of some kind.
Near the end Robotnik would team up with Mario and Bowser with Sonic who want to get rid of their original rivals once and for all. The 2 good guys would weaken their enemies so much that they defeat each other and then Mario and sonic could team up again!
It would end up with the character you choose getting an award from Princess Toadstool with Tails and Luigi nearby.
This would be on a stage in front of the Mushroom Kingdoms castle with millions of mushrooms and animals watching and cheering.
