Ha, ha, this is all very exciting, although we won’t see the real effects until about 1 year from now, things are already staring to heat up. Most people thought that Sony would clean out the industry with their Playstation 2; I am not saying that the Playstation 2 isn’t a good console because it is probably the most awaited console to date, but I am saying, like with every other console it has had its fair share of problems! The Dreamcast was maybe too advanced, and to put soooooo much money into a machine when people were a little uncertain about Sega, and how the Dreamcast would work after the disappointing run of the Saturn, was to me, pretty stupid. Having said this Nintendo had their fair share of problems too, their N64 suffered 2nd place to Sony’s Playstation because they released it later and it played cartridges…. uh-oh…that must have cost them, and I don’t think their pocket money would have covered it!

But with all faults and criticisms out the window, the Future of gaming does look rather exciting. With talks of a Nintendo – Sega RPG in the works, we can’t count Nintendo out, although I am a Ninty fan and you may expect this comment, I think that Nintendo are keeping quiet for a BIG reason, maybe it is to do with the controller or console maybe not but hey, I mean a Ninty – Sega RPG would be good, but hold on, why is every one going on about SONIC and MARIO Teaming up, if they did that they would have used that idea up straight away, in my opinion they will wait a year or two to see how things pan out and then hit the industry with a Sonic – Mario game. But as for the RPG I don’t think they will team up for that anytime soon. (What about Link.) Mario’s latest RPG, Paper Mario, has a good storyline, but since when did our little blue Hedgehog friend play a part in an RPG!!! Maybe I missed that one but I don’t think we will see these two together other than in a Mario game where Sonic plays a little part, DEFINITELY not as a team for a couple of years though. I just hope that they don’t call it ‘The Mar-onic Adventure for the Nintega Dreamcube’…ulgh!

Mr. Hiro over at Ninty towers said that ‘Bill Gates doesn’t know a thing about games’…and to that I say…SO WHAT you don’t actually think that it will be Bill Gates on his own in a 1,000,000 square foot 120 story tower trying to make games through Publisher do you?! No! The X-Box is made by gamers, with gamers, for gamers; and that, although made into a funky advertising slogan, is what could take Microsoft onto level playing terms with Ninty and Sony by the time the X-Box is released.

Another Topic which everyone seems to be talking about is that Nintendo NEED Sega to do well, hey, I mean you could say that OAP’s Need Wheelchairs to get about and Weight Lifters Need Weights to…lift weights…but the point I am getting at is this, Sony wouldn’t be able to have accomplished all they have to day if it weren’t for the (quote The Rock) ~ ‘Millions…and Millions’ of Third party developers that they saw share the success of the PSX. But Nintendo will rely on Sega just as Much as they do on Rare, maybe less, and their other developers. Making a console a success is a team effort and although one company will get the major share of glory, it all bears down to the fact that it is the games that make the console, the PSX is the console that has seen the most games over the last 6 years in the industry, Nintendo’s SNES saw over 500 titles released, that was the best console of its time and I am sure than Sony have seen more than that on it’s Playstation! So games will be the biggest Factor and although VF4 is set to be a PS2 exclusive if Ninty and Sega can form this bond then we might see a fair few blockbusters that even Rare couldn’t think up!

Only time and news will tell us how the relationship between Sega and Nintendo will turn out but if the new screen(s) from Sonic Advanced are anything to go by then the two could be tying the knot (:P) so to speak, a lot sooner than expected!

Thanks
