Can I use original playstation memory cards to play original playstation games on my PS2?
I have inserted card and tried to resume playing TLR and Driver 2 but I only get the 'New Game' option , there is no indication that it is reading the old card
Or do I need PS2 card and start all over again!
And can I transfer old data onto a new 8MB card?

It gets better!
The Gamester card that had all my saves on from the last 3 years has been wiped clean by inserting into PS2!
And when it is in Playstation 1 now, the screen reads 'Controller removed' even though it is in!
Ah well!

It looks good, and with MGS2 so far away it might be just the thing. Perhaps FF9 won`t be the last PSone game for me...
However, with Z.O.E. and other decent PS2 games arriving at the same time, C-12 may get drowned out a bit.

It's supposed to be looking pretty good - sort of MGS meets Resi.

What is C-12 ? Is it 3 times more explosive than C-4 ?
Your right about the memory cards though. I have asked my little brother to bring up an old official memory card from home when he visits this weekend.

Im going with the 'deliberate design feature' conclusion.
Annoying that they haven't owned up to it though, and a Memory Card shud have been included in the whole package but they prob. would not have been able to keep it under the £300 mark
Will try it all again, but if not its back to dragging my son off his Playstation while I finish TLR

Wookiee's ever-useful tip, number 27:

Always stick with official peripherals and accessories.

You mean you won't be getting C-12 when it's out?

Today I bought Final Fantasy 9. The last PSone game I`ll ever buy (probably).
Today I bought a memory card for use with FF9. The last unofficial PSone mc I buy.
Tomorrow I`ll take the memory card back, but for now there is not a lot I can do on FF9.
DOH! I hate memory cards sometimes!

Oops - was that wise? If you saved on the 'faulty' caard, you may have just wiped your previous save anyway.

Anyone else got some third party cards to try out? I have a couple, but not here unfortunately. I thought it may be worth trying port 2, just to check if port 1 was faulty.

But it does sound like it could be a problem with non Sony cards.... Or maybe a deliberate design feature :-I. Hmmmmm...
