Just a quick one really.

Is it possible to tell windows XP to not turn on my printer and print out automatically?

I only ask, because I have one occasion hit the print button by mistake on my browser, and Windows XP will turn on my printer, start printing, and ignore my cancel requests.

The only way I can think of doing this is pausing the printer before you need to print anything. That way, you'd have to explicitly unpause it for printing to start.

My Canon printer has an "auto power-on" setting, which I have switched off. I can adjust this setting via the Control Panel, Printers, right-click the printer and "Printing preferences" option. If I try to print without the power on, XP tells me that there's a problem cos the printer is offline.

I guess this is what you need, but maybe your printer doesnt allow you to change the autopower option?

no i dont think there is a way of turning it off...
The only way maybe is in the printer diver controll pannel, and as i probably dont have the same printer as you i cant tell you how...
