I read this book (name of topic) by a German professor/author who claims that, rather than God creating man, space travellers came down and interbred with a species similar to what we have evolved into (homo sapiens) to create mankind as we know it. They then taught them the skills and culture that we now have or at least have adapted from. To top this off, they helped early man with seemingly impossible feats like the building of The Great Pyramid, the figures on Easter Island and the creation of maps that pre-date the discovery of the the antarctic, yet display accurately the outline of the continent along with contours of the mountain ranges their.

His theory suggests that early man worshipped these beings as God's and aptly dubbed their space rockets as chariots....of the gods.

So we're to believe some ancient race of horny aliens came down and expunged their hormones by sexually abusing chimps?

The maps of Piri Rees [or something like that].... they suggest that they could only have been created and mapped-out from a great height [i.e. the sky], yet at the time the maps were produced, humans didn't have any flying contraptions.

I think I've read this book. The theories seem fantastic at first, but you never know: the history of the planet may be full of surprises. Currently, an author called Alan Alford continues the "ancient visitation/advanced ancient civilisation" theories in more detail.
