Hello,

Does anyone know anything about using meta tags on Zen Cart?

There is an option next to each product where you go in - it has the following categories for information to be filled in:

Meta Tag Title
Meta Tag Keywords
Meta Tag Description

Can anyone give examples as to what i should put in these categories?

I am new to meta tags so I am not quite sure how this works. I know you have to put in commas but where exactly?!

Thanks for your help!

Our SEO for InstantPro page touches on this for you :)

With Zen Cart you are likely to have to edit the relevant file, where the meta tags are defined... unless they have rebuilt their system since I last used it.

You can always check out their forums anyway.

Hope that helps!

Basically, they assist search engines in matching your pages with keywords entered by users when they perform a web search.

<META NAME="Description" CONTENT="Your description of your site goes here">

Meta keywords tag defines one or more keywords that correspond to the key topics in the page to which you refer or to your site.

META NAME="Keywords" CONTENT="keyword1, keyword2, keyword3, keyword4, etc">

To ensure compatibility with most search engines, you should put all of your keywords in lowercase. Don't repeat some of your keywords within the meta tag, this is called spamdexing.

Hope this helps :-)

Ok thank you for your replies :)

So for example if I want to put in keywords for" Aqua Siberian Quartz Etheric Weaver"

If I put keywords as:

aqua,siberian,quartz,etheric,weaver,aqua siberian,aqua siberian quartz,etheric weaver..

I wanted to put in different versions of what people might search for but is that classed as spamdexing because I have repeated the same words?

No it isn't, but try not to use them too much! Also, try and include words or phrases in your meta tags in your page content too :)
