With tons of romantic comedies being released each year, it was refreshing to see what is being dubbed as a "Bromantic" Comedy. Instead of the usual boy meets girl, they fall in love, have an argument and it all ends up well and they live happily ever after. We are treated to the rather different scenario, where Pete (Paul Rudd) and his girlfriend are going through life and enjoying everything that is happening in their lives, especially when Pete pops the question and the couple prepare for their wedding.

Early in the movie it becomes apparent that while Zooey, Pete's fiance has a good circle of friends who she enjoys spending time with. Peter has spent all his years being with girlfriends and never concentrating on his mates, so while he is a successful real estate agent who has enjoyed his life, he has never had a best friend and with his wedding coming up he realizes he needs to find that special someone to be his best man.

The main emphasis on the movie follows this plot, and how pete goes on man dates to try find some friends. With his gay brother helping and little luck while using internet site, the film has some very funny moments that both genders will enjoy! I think it is safe to say that the film will appeal to both men and women and never tries to be too funny but does enough to develop the relationships on screen, progress with the story and also keep the comedy coming at a steady pace. I often find with romantic comedies and many comedies that towards the end the comedy really trails off as everything has to be wrapped up. I Love You, Man was more of a constant humour with an average story that flows well.

The main comedy stems from how Pete and his new friend Sydney hang out and talk about life. With Pete being new to being close friends with a man it is not long before his attention is focused on sydney and not Zooey and all the things most of us have discussed and done are now what two mid 30 year olds find themselves doing.

The plot is quite standard but with a new twist which brings new life into an over done genre, so it does recieve points for trying something new and succeeding. The comedy is above average and overall the film is highly enjoyable, so i would have to give it a respectable;
