My friend said something about Student Licenses giving you money off buying computer programs etc but I have no idea what it is. Anyone got an explanation?

Never knew about software discounts. But I got a good Compaq laptop for only £49 because I'm a college student. But it was only that cheap because I traded in my 'broken' laptop..!

Yep, my whole post in a sentance, I'm that bored =)

But you have to promise to stop using it when you graduate, or it's naughty...But widespread.

Benefits of a job in a PC shop, I'll whip one of the shelf for you:
(Like I have anything better to be doing than playing with a lappy in the showroom ;)

Example, office XP Standard for students and teachers (also applies to parents, but that's in the small print. Basically, you're only allowed to purchase it if you're one fo the above, although the restriction merely says "Do not purchase" - there are no official checks with many products, although you may find that some require you to send off to the publishers/developers with proof of ID before you get a CD (older versions of office, for example)

"You are a qualifying student if you are enrolled in a school, college or university on a full or part time basis, which is recognised by the appicable government agency in the country in which you reside."

"This is a personal learning license and your usage rights will terminate should your status as a Qualified Educational User cease, due to graduation or otherwise."

Basically, you can only buy/use it if you're in education/a teacher/parent, but it's sold generally trusting that the user is, and no one monitors you to make sure oyu stop when you graduate...

Also save a few hundred quid over the full version...You can get student license software from many high street shops, but it's often easier to find online...

If you contact some software companies directly they might give you a student discount, but this isn't normally the case with retail outlets unless you can sign up for some kind of reward card. the Uni usuallu has some kind of edal with the software publishers to plug their wares though.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
