The Italian governments behaviour towards Germany is unbelievable. After the German Chancellor said that he considered the issue of what Berlusconi the Italian PM said to the German EU delegate, an Italian Ministry Official insults all German tourists causing the Chancellor to cancel his Italy holiday plans.
Its almost as if Italy are trying to start a war with Germany.
:D

Actually, at the risk of being a bore - but hey that doesn't stop me most times ! - the nation which first declared war on another European nation would be the one to lose. Article 5 of the NATO charter, an attack on one member is an attack on all.
Of course not all of Europe is signed up :p
In a war between Italy and France, both would surrender within the 1st 10 seconds of war being declared.

Wouldn't it be more insulting to the German tourists to believe they actually cared what he said ?
Put this in context, this is politicians exchanging covert and overt verbal abuse. If a politician talks about health, transport, economy, foreign policy etc then most people consider them to be lying.
However, moment they start the insults people suddenly believe everything they hear...
In other news today, apart from the cancellation of the German PM's holiday, Bush is set to sign off on around $15 billion of help to combat AIDS in Africa, as North Korea conducts missile tests, Iran fired one earlier this month, a US advisory teams landed in Liberia, Indonesian forces and Aceh rebels continue to blast themselves and anyone who gets in the way, the occupation of Iraq continues (no one got killed today so we'l not mention it) and so on...
This slanging match isn't, in my view, important, but strangely metaphorical for Europe's approach to foreign affairs.
Not an apology then is it?
When I think of italy, I have and always will be reminded of gay men in open shirts and jeans.

Which obviously gives Italian politicians every right to insult EVERY SINGLE GERMAN TOURIST.
