I use NTLworld to connect to the Internet, but when I opened the console before connecting half the menu options weren't there, and instead of a "Help" menu, it said "Yo-Ya Gaak"! So I restarted my machine, opened up NTLworld again and it seemed fine. So I checked on Google for this phrase and there were 2 occurences - 1 is the name of a Steve Vai album and the other is the first words said by an Internet Bear character at FreshPulp.com.

Anyone got any explanations for this? Virus? Glitch? I've searched for Steve Vai before on Kazaa, so this could be a source of it, but NTL/Kazaa/Windows crossover glitch? Surely a record!

Lol, I try =) I'm sweating my way through the last hour of the day in a greenhouse like showroom where both our air conditioners are broken and the only other staffie who likes conversation has gone off up to the school for a concert band rehearsal. Seemed like a good time to make my return to SR..

Very bizarre, messing with a program sounds like a virus, but if that's all you've noticed then it's far more subtle than most. You /do/ have an up to date anti virus program, don't you? Just checking ;)

Don't know of any steve vai related viruses, unlikely to just be a "glitch" really, but I can't see many explanations for it. Underhand advertising techniques employed but cunning new spyware? As long as it doesn't keep happening, I wouldn't worry really.

Would be a wonderfully named track to pay homage to in a virus, confuse the hell out of most people. He's a very strange bloke, Mr Vai...Can't say I'm a fan of all his experiments, but there's some fantastic stuff in there.
