Representatives from United and Real are in Paris today trying to claim the signiture of 'Little Ron' who returns back to training on thursday - when an announcement is expected.

But who will prevail?

It seems Real want to make a team out of the worlds elite whilst United only need 1 or two world class players to make their team complete.

Ron must be edging towards Real as many of his 'friends' are there in Carlos, Ronaldo and also the warmth must be more attractive for him yet he'll have to wait a year before Real need him (if they do?)

As for United, he would be the perfect foil for the departed Beckham as he can play on either wings or in the 'hole' behind Ruud, flexibility -something which Fergie loves.

For me it's Ronaldinho or noone - simply because Kewell has signalled his intentions to play for the Scousers and Kluivart wants to stay at Barca - So whose left? in my view noone unless you want to break the bank for a Shevchenko which would never happen.

I think this is why Fergie is digging deep for Ron and I believe he has flown there personally with Kenyon to try to get his man.

A £20 million plus offer will be needed, whether this happens or not we will have to see.

Real madrid will find the money easy as their goveronment funds any players they want to buy so....

Tony Blair? - How about some cash son?

No Ronnie then. According to reports he's signed a 5 year deal for Barca.

The price did keep rising though, when it was around £10 million, it would have been a bargain, but £21 is a little bit much for the richest club in the world, apparently...?

So, who will be the next target?

The papers are suggesting a few names, Joaquin, who wants to stay in Spain, Kieran Dyer, who I doubt Newcastle would let go, and I wouldn't want him anyway, Duff appears to be holding out for a bid from Man Utd, and Joe Cole could be bought at a bargain £8 million, with West Ham needing the money.

Or, given that Kleberson is on his way (waiting on a work permit before announcing that one) do we need a big signing?

Man United's lineup for 2003/4: As I would see it if Ronaldinho joined:

Barthez
P. Neville, Ferdinand, O'Shea, G. Neville
Giggs, Scholes, Keane, Veron
Ronaldinho

From Sky sports.

Ronaldinho has moved a step closer to joining Manchester United after the Old Trafford chief executive Peter Kenyon confirmed that they were making a new bid for the Brazilian.

Kenyon said: "Things are moving well and we are making useful progress.

"We have made a renewed bid for the player and are hopeful we can bring things to a successful conclusion in the next few days. That is certainly our intention.

"We believe Ronaldinho wants to come to Old Trafford and that has been a motivating factor for us in pursuing him.

"It's now a question of reaching agreement with PSG but we are hopeful that will be done sooner rather than later."

Just noticed this too

The paper's are full of BS - he hasn't signed for anyone as yet.

Sky Sports News Understands that Utd have Tabled an £18.75 mil bid for Ronnie, with £15 mil spread over 5 yrs and the rest dependant on Utd's success, but with all the mixed storys in the media - who the hell can we believe?
