After an evening of PC shopping I eventually returned home last night, fired up this ancient PC and went over to Dell's site, customised a set up, and went through to checkout.

All the usual stuff, credit card details, address etc. I keep scrolling down and filling in.

Then I reach Section 4.

It reads something like this; "Dell is a US Corporation and as such must monitor the usage of the equipment it supplies to private individuals etc.

"q1 - Will this equipment be exported to any of the following countries ?"

I look at the list out of interest, and it's a list of every troublespot, terrorist nation etc on the planet, strangely Iraq is not on there.

I tick "No"

Q2 and 3 escape me, but were not that entertaining.

"q4 - Will this equipment be used in the manufacture, development or deployment of chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear agents, material, weapons systems ?"

Part of me wonders what happens if I tick "Yes", but the thought of the possible complications that may occur, such as delaying my order, prevent me from seeing the results. I tick "no", and then confirm the order.

Weird, non ?

On a side note I'd recommend anyone who wants a new PC to try Dell, what you lose in their £49 delivery charge you make up on spec for your money.

With their discounts and offers I got;

2.6 Ghz Pentium 4 with Hyperthreading
17 Digital Flat panel LCD monitor
Soundblaster Live 5.1 sound card
ATI Radeon 9800 128MB 250mhz AGP 8X Graphics Card
