It was well crap. 1976 "update" starring Jeff Bridge, in which Kong is set free in modern *ahem* day Noo Yoik and climbs the World Trade Center *ahem*. Bad, bad acting, locations and special effects. They could have done so much more with this - it was a good premise, after all. Instead of Kong going across that big bridge, he swims undetected underneath. Balls - anyone would see a massive monkey, no matter how deep the water. and it all takes place at night, which is really convenient for the special effects crew, because you can't actually see anything! Grrr, Peter "I'm a massive geek and made Lord of the rings, officially the beardiest film ever" Jackon's version better be good. And not set in New Zealand. But a Frodo Baggins cameo would be welcome.

I was shocked when Kong 'raped' the woman.

Shocked and aroused.

Best film I've ever seen. The Giant monkey WAS King Kong and at no point resembled an uncoordinated goon in a suit, the special effects put many a modern blockbuster to shame and made Reloaded look cheap and tacky. The Ape portrayed genuine emotion and had me in tears from his opening gambit of chest thumping and stomping to the denoument when he died, unhappy.

He was the bravest Uber-chimp I have had the pleasure to know and I for one will miss him dearly.

He is now eating bananas with Hendrix.

I watched it for ages, hoping to catch a glimpse of "The Kong". When I didn't, i switched it off in disgust and read a book instead.

I didn't see it the other day, but I think I remember it. Was that the one where he didn't even die? They put him with a female King Kong? Maybe I'm thinking of the sequel they made...

Anyway, didn't know Jackson was doing a remake. Should be good, if they can make the CG Kong look real.
