Oh I dunno - we've had Windows explode in work on several occasions, taking out several of the surrounding programs... ;-)

The MS Trakball mouse is a valuable weapon in any artillery. The ball itself is used for fine tuning your aim, and is very effective for games like UT and Deus Ex when combined with the cursor keys. (I configure Shift for strafe).
I highly recommend it, even though it was made by Microsoft, who are not really renowned for their firearms.

Always the mouse.
If possible, I configure the right button to run and the mouse wheel for prev/next weapon; then it's the left and right arrows to strafe, Ctrl to jump and the right-hand Shift key to duck/crouch.
Other controls obviously depend on the game!

I prefer using a mouse, if you run out of bullets you can throw it at your enemies.
