Why in a four player Console world did Sony in there immense wisdom choose a two player design?
Even the new Game Boy has four player so why they chose two player I don't know

Well actually I believe that 0.5p multiplied by 1000000 is actually only £5000, so it wouldn`t make any difference to them at all.

This has been discussed endlessly already.

Alright then.
So if Sony sell one million consoles and save o.5p on every one just by having a cheap nasty fan on the console that makes them half a million pound profit! That’s good considering that they still charge you the same price with or without the cheap nasty (not to mention noisy) fan.
The real reason why Sony has not got four player is that they have just recycled the same controller chip from the PSOne saving them a bit of cash!

It's certianly no major flaw in my book - get a multitap and you can have 5 players; get two, and you can have 8.
Even with the multitap, there have historically been few games for more than 2 players on PS1 - so it's not really a big deal, IMHO.
