I know a few things about adsl but i just want to clarify what it mite all cost me. Firstly, I know there mite be a connection charge and a deactivation charge, depending on the package I choose from the provider, and there mite be a free modem or router thrown in. Obviously there will be a monthly charge, but is there anything else I'm missing? I know I'll have the cost of voice calls on top plus the rental fee from BT, but is there any other charges for having a broad band connection?
*Installation (maybe free) and deactivation cost.
*Price of modem and router (maybe free).
*Monthly rental fee.
*BT line renatl (which is normal).
*cost of voice calls.
*Anything else?

.. voice calls stay as they are, and don't come as part of the ADSL service.
Most places seem to have stopped the free modem/activation now, as that was a wya to start up the ADSL market ... as ADSL is doing pretty well for itself, a lot of providers feel the free setup isn't required anymore.
ADSL is an addition to your BT service, not something that is included with any other price you are currently paying. If you buy ADSL from a prvier, their monthly fee will only get you access to the ADSL service they provide.
Any voice calls, line rental, phone packages that you have with BT remain as they were before.
