Say I wanted to make a clock and I have nothing to help me.

How would I go by defining an exact second? What is it? How do I time it?

It's got to be something with the way the Earth is divided into minutes and seconds but I just can't work out how it would be done...

It's doing my head in.

Help!

Hence why 'Atomic clocks' have perfect accuracy.

The unit of time, the second, was defined originally as the fraction 1/86400 of the mean solar day.
was what the link said...
Only useful if when clock making if you can get the 24 hour period to match 1 solar day, then divide that period up into hours and seconds...

The second is the duration of 9 192 631 770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the cesium 133 atom.

heh, near enough to what I remembered.

Still doing my head in. Although Mikelar has kinda helped.

I'm trying to time the light at the moment but it moves too quickly.

Nearly getting it though.

something to do with the exact time it takes for a specific number of a certain isotope of a radioactive element to decay.
Or something like that.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Easy and free service!
I think it's fab that you provide an easy-to-follow service, and even better that it's free...!
