Just got off the phone to UPS.
They are about to contact their solicitors and try and sue/fine me for not paying import tax on the GBASP I imported back in February.
Why am I not paying the import tax?
Because I was clearly told on the phone that I wouldn't have to pay import tax and that I wouldn't hear anything more from them (by a women in one of their departments).
Sadly, I cannot remember her name but this verbal confirmation laid my thoughts to rest that I should be fine.
Three weeks after that phone call I received the first letter. I ignored. Now on my final warning and refusing to pay. I phone up UPS and have a huge argument with them.
I am angry. I am going to have to pay it now.

Well, you should have paid the import tax in the first place. You were bound to have an incling that you would be charged something.
UPS are a pain in the butt...
they delivered a Hockey shirt i ordered from a US site and then turned up on my doorstep demanding an extra £30 import tax ON TOP of the shipping costs. How come you can order shirts from band websites and stuff and not have to pay an extra £30??

Maddox is alright. What you have to remember is that half the time he doesn't even believe the stuff he's saying anyway.
If you can remember when you spoke to her, firms like UPS usually record their phone lines so there might be a slim chances of getting to listen to the conversation. I wouldn't bet on it, though.
