I've been wondering about the PS2 when stood vertical with its stand. I haven't noticed anything on the tray that actually holds the game disks so does it make putting games into the machine more difficult when stood up ? I'm guessing theres at least a couple of people here that have the stand and stuff ;-)

There is a sort of lip at the bottom of the tray that is sufficient to hold the disc in place until the tray is closed. Then the spindle thing secures the disc from the centre.
