I recently just bought an optical mouse for my laptop and installed. At first everything worked fine, i sorted the buttons to how i wanted them and they worked (its one with five buttons and the scroll wheel), i also downloaded the latest driver.

However, the next time i turned my laptop on from when it was turned off, the mouse wouldnt work. Firstly, it started shaking all over the screen and not responding properly to what i did, so i had to pull it out. Then, even though on the settings my buttons config was still how i wanted, the scroll wheel, and two side buttons would not work how i wanted, yet it scrolls ok and the left/right and the actual button of the wheel works (hope that made sense). Sometimes when i reinstall the software it works fine again, until i turn it back off and on again.

Is there something wrong with the product, or something im doing wrong or need to do? Im running Windows XP.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like the mouse is knackered. Test it in another machine if you have one to hand, if not just return it.
