the first half an hour of the film is simply breathtaking and it sends a bolt of lighning through u.
Tom Hanks plays the captain in charge of a disillusioned team of soldiers whos task is to find private ryan and bring him home..his other 3 brothers all died serving their country. Its a grim task but somebody has to do it.
Will they find ryan?
one complaint...After watching this film i remembered the actors were all american and it was making out that the uk were not in the war...the same with u-571. Why do the americans persist on this ...are they trying to tell us something ?
Clearly Hunter Loot!
It is sad that the film mainly contained Americans, however it has to be remembered that people of all nationalities were involved in the war not just the British and the Americans. The British in retrospect would have been defeated quickly by Germany if the channel hadnt stopped the German progress, and without supplies from the US we would also have been defeated. The Russians lost the most troops in the war, and so its sad that they are never portrayed as heroes.
If you still think the Americans are trying to glorify themselves, then see "The Thin Red Line" a great recent film about the war in vietnam. Yes the Americans are horrible and they all get blown to bits.
