Well I don't know if anyone else has already - but I've seen the trailer for the film today on a friends DVD he got :-)
He just got the film Hollow Man and it had a section for upcoming films and Final Fantasy was one of them. It has to be said that the film is looking amazing and will definatly appeal to fans of FF and probably even a lot of the public in general.
Another film thats to be based on a game is Alice. Apparently Wes Craven (Scream) will be running the show. Anyone whos played the game on PC will know it certainly offers a "different" view of wonderland ;-)
Normally its games being made based on the films, but now it seems to be swinging the other way just as often what with past game title films such as Mortal Kombat and (the very poor) Streetfighter film.
Overall though I'd say Final Fantasy and Alice are set to be a lot better quality than the other 2 mentioned films. You can't help but feel a real essence of "cheesy" when watching actors trying to be Ryu, Guile and Sub Zero. Of course the Tomb Raider film is due out soon too. But I can't help thinking that will be yet another dose of cheese.

Mortal Kombat was held up rather well by its pumping soundtrack, in fact I would go as far as to say that only The Matrix can beat it for its fusion of music and action, with Blade coming 3rd. Watch all three movies in the same night and see what I mean.
Street Fighter the movie, well, with Van Damme and Minogue, it had to be a flop, and it was. The stunt sequences were very contrived and cheap, and bore no real relation to the game itself. Mortal Kombat at least carried all the moves across to celluloid, and more.
Final Fantasy 'The Spirits Within' due for release this year has to be one of the most eagerly anticipated movies in a long time for me, and given that it is mostly FMV there is a good chance, with its specialist appeal audience, that it will also come to DVD this year as well. A must buy for me, seeing that I am THE FantasyMeister. There can be only one.
Really. Tells the tale better than the visuals sometimes.
