So what is the future of Gaming?
Is it bright?
Colourful?
Happy?

Well I believe this year computer games will come of age.

All forms of entertainment have been headed in the same direction, Music pushed forward by a mixture of Rap and Pop in the mainstream has moved to violence, drugs, and sex.
Television and Movies have followed the exact same route so it tells us that the public like this. If violence sells a film why not a computer game.

We have had violent games, Doom, Quake etc, but soon we will be able to see an explosion of taboo subjects, sex and drugs as well.

For how long must we play an RPG and watch as the haracters jump into bed, in full body armour? Not long I would have thought, obviously some developers will be hard pressed to leave their heavy roots and change, but with gamers clamouring for more realistic experiences all the time it is
inevitable. Shenmue and The Sims showed us people want to have full control of the characters life and full control will soon mean deciding will they jump into bed with the girl on their first date! Or they decide that instead of locking up the bank they will steal the money and go on a
rampage.

These are the type of decisions that most of us would not have a problem resisting in real life which in turn makes it more appealing to us to actually pull them off in a computer game. This will unquestionably spawn
much criticism and controversy. So why will developers make them? The same reason Sony introduced such a controversial pre-order system. The same reason Eminem speaks against all humanity. Because it is free publicity, it will generate more interest and therefore more money.

For everyone who likes there games to be cute, furry, and cuddly I must warn you. They future of gaming will be ugly, bald, and sharp.
