Do you like the idea?
It would not be as big as the Scotthish Parliament, the assemblies would only have 25-35 members. It would require approximately a £25 rise in council tax to pay for it.
The assemblies would have jurisdiction over transport, health and some other stuff.
However, I think it is stupid. The Scottish Parliament was originally meant to be £30 million. 4 years on and the bill stands at £375 million. I also estimate the money spent on wages over the 4 years to be at least £21 million (129 MSPs, each on around £41000 per year, ministers getting more).
And what for? The Scottish Parliament has not really made a diference to the lives of people in Scotland. I don't think that regional assemblies would either.
And we already do have elected representatives, you know in the Commons, what's wrong with them?
We also have council elections and European Parliament elections. Do we need another?
