i just cant decide on that one. i have finally dumped the aged monster that used to be my best friend. thats right i have finally bought new pc BUT with just gettin hang of 98,i cant get my head around this XP.Can anyone lend me a hand or suggest a book to help me out.
miserableman: Well ive already done that but on power up when it prompts for name and pass,his name still there.im still having to enable my norton every time i switch on?
XP is great. Far better than all the other Windows versions..

XP is infinitely superior to Windows 98 in practically every conceivable way. The only way I can think that it's not is that 98 is better at playing some older games.
If you want to get rid of the account the computer makers have set up, probably the easiest way is to change its name. Go into Control Panel -> Users -> Click on the account you want to Change -> Change My Name.

secret_squirrel well its not that im dumb or something,its just the pc was made for me and everything including xp is under their name. You no the way you can change account settings well i have tried to put my name as account holder as im not sharing it with noone but when i turn pc on it reverts back to their name and settings which is disabling my norton antivirus,also if i disable this account will i not be able to open files with their name on them.
Its almost the same.

What exactly can't u understand about it, its pretty self explanatory and for instance like in control panel, you can revert to the classic style n e way...and you can do the same with the desktop and the start menu etc...
but if u wana keep the XP look, buy windows XP for dummies etc... they are good for novices to a system!
