To get a job in certain shops you have to write a cover letter, telling them why you are qualified to to work there. Imagine you are applying to work in a video game shop, write a cover letter...

n.b. this topic is not an excuse to nick some of your comments and put them in my own cover letter, just because i am running out of things to say despite having over 10 years experience of the market.

Oh yeah, a few stupid typo erros there. There's only one way I'd work in a videogame shop...open my own! What's the point if you can't run it how you want to?

lol. It's not GAME (I wouldn't work there), it's an independent retailer, but they still push rubbish. BTW, you wrote SAVE, not SAVED;)

I am qualified to work in the aforementioned videogames shop due to the plethora of over 15 years of videogames and computer games knowledge I have acquired.

From the humble beginnings of the Binatone "Tennis" game right up to the undisputed power of the Xbox, I have seen, owned and played them all. My core knowledge lies in the days of the 8-bit and 16-bit era, of which my experience is unparalleled in this field.

I have witnessed great games on the Speccy (Knightlore) through to horrible aberrations against humanity (Frac! on the BBC Micro). I have wept at the death of Aeris in Final Fantasy 7 and glorified in running over my fellow brethren using a lighning power-up and pipping them to the post in Mario Kart 64. I've beaten pretenders to the throne at Goldeneye using Jaws and I have save the world from terrorists in Metal Gear Solid. This is just a brief synopsis of my glorious game playing "career".

However, this wealth of knowledge won't be put to any good use will it? As I will be forced to recommended abysmal games that have prime shop floor space such as Primal. Well, you can stick your job where the sun doesn't shine...I'll go to my local independent retailer, safe in the knowledge that my expertise will be used for the benefit of others rather than influence easily led automatons to buy yet another despicable franchise.

WHAT HAS MY PASSION BECOME? If I work in the video game store, will I be liable if I beat the ignorant fools that walk through the door and spout random obscenities?

Dear Mr. I own a video games shop but don't know anything about video games, I know loads about video games. I own the first computer, the playstation and I own the bestestest computer, the PS2. The best game is Crash Bandicoot. I am good at handling money, my previous boss said I'd nicked a grand before he'd found out and I regulate stealing stock to the weekends.
