This time around Edward Norton is cast as the beleagured Bruce Banner, also known as 'The Hulk'. Banner is desparately trying to find a cure for his condition, all the while being pursued by General Ross, played by William Hurt. Matters are further complicated by the fact that General Ross's daughter is Banner's girlfriend, the only person apparently capable of taming The Hulk. Which is the cue for a whole bunch of Hulk vs Army punch-ups, with Uncle Sam's finest invariably coming off worse.
Sound familiar? It should, since it's very similar in tone and plot to Ang Lee's Hulk film, right down to the Hulk vs Giant Monster punch-up at the end. Not that I'm suggesting there's any plagiarism going on - they both share the same source material, but this new film doesn't really offer anything that the previous Hulk film did. In fact, they both share the same flaws. The lead actor never really managers to come across as particularly tortured - and the CGI on the Hulk itself doesn't quite look right.
If you're a fan of The Hulk, then you might want to check this out, but if you're looking for a good comic based movie, or a good superhero movie, then Iron Man is a better bet.
